Bio

Matt received a Master’s degree in computer science from Michigan State University, after which he moved to Golden, Colorado where he worked in the telecom industry as a software engineer for a few decades. He started keeping bees in 2011, which quickly became his passion. He served as the director of Mountain High Beekeepers Cooperative and played an essential role in founding the Colorado Professional Beekeepers Association.  In 2019 he became a field specialist for Bee Informed Partnership where he worked with dozens of large commercial operations across the country. Matt now works for the E.L. Niño Bee lab and Bee Health Hub at UC Davis where he focuses his work on California beekeepers and queen producers providing consulting, sampling, testing and data analysis services.
